Biology Tools

Below are a selection of tools that I created while I worked in science. These tools were created before I had developed an awareness of more professional coding standards, and as such aren't intended to be a demonstration of these principles!

During first lockdown of the cornavirus pandemic I was unable to access the lab to preform wet-work. Instead my focus was on using the bioinformatic tools and databases available on post-translational modifications to see if I could provide valuble insights to be used on my eventual return to the lab. This website was created to repackage some of the work done during this period into something a little more user friendly then the collection of python scripts I created for personal use.

A tool for predicting SH2 domain binding from peptides with the sequence xx-Y-xxxx. The website for the original SMALI predictions is no longer available. This tool was created in an attempt to recreate the predictions produced by SMALI. Only part of the OPAL array datasets which were used by SMALI were published in the original papers, therefore while reSMALI scores are similar to SMALI scores they are not exactly the same.

This game was originally created for a scientific outreach event, where children had to try to identify cell organelles and match them correctly to their associated function, cartoon and microscopy images.
